Battle Brother Posts: 1 30-Oct-2008 02:18:38	Tags : None Hi guys. Just found the forum and thought I would upload a couple of pics of my character models. They are both 90-95% there, just need a little touching up and some details here and there. Would appreciate any tips or comments from more experienced members of the forum. I used to be into painting about 10-15 years ago but didn't keep it up, rediscovered it a few months back and like to think my added patience and maturity has rubbed off on my skills! My army is based around the standard DA colour scheme, with some distinctions. Primarily, I've tried to bring in a royal purple motif on my character models, to make them look a little more regal. I chickened out of doing my veteran squad in purple robes though! I have used a few more colours than the basic DA palette (I have white robes, DA green, liche purple and red), but I think it looks ok as they are quite muted and dont look too gaudy. As I say, I'd appreciate comments... Azrael probably shows off the liche purple cloak the best as there isnt a huge amount of DA green armour on him. His metallic portions still need a little work but I'm quite happy with him all in all. My chapter master approximately 80% there. Still needs scrolls and purity seals finishing and a few extra highlights as he looks a little dark. My terminator chaplain. He still needs some work, for instance on his skulls and icons, but I was pleased with the helmet. My squad sergeant. I'm very pleased with how his face turned out and the banner looks ok too. Maybe need to tone down the wash in the recesses of the banner but I'm quite happy with this guy. Looking forward to the weekend as I have a terminator captain to grapple with! Also in the process of sanding all the damn Ultramarine 'horseshoes' off some Tyranid hunters just because I like the models and I want them in my DA army! I'll keep you posted on my progress. Posts: 36 3-Nov-2008 15:28:03	They look fine. I think the black and green could do with a bit of highlighting to help distinguish between them. They look a bit too muted making them appear rather flat. I like the purple robes and the banners. I don't think Azrael's combi-plasma works with purple though. Especially considering the trim and robes are purple. Red would probably be my choice of colour.

Posts: 677 5-Nov-2008 05:32:34 Master of the Deathwing	Maybe a darker purple would have worked on the weapons. The green is really dark while the purple is a little bright (and cheery). The robes can maybe use a light wash of sepia as well to darken them or as suggested, brighten the green.

Posts: 94 11-Nov-2008 05:06:33 Castellan of the Tower	I think they're very good, but I agree with GMB and DaD that alittle more highlighting work could really add to them. I really like the way you've done the faces by the way, particularly the eyes on the sergeant.

Battle Brother Posts: 4 19-Apr-2009 00:40:23	Very nice, the purple is a nice addition to the colour scheme and a great way to make the army unique. Highlighting the armour would make them stand out alot more ( as stated by the others). The banner on the tactical sargeant looks really good. Your freehand skills are very good. What company are you doing? I'm assuming 5th but the checker motif on the sarge is from the 4th ( I think ) Cheers Sknight567
