Thanks guys. Progress has kind of slowed here. But do not fear, Dark Angels never quit! This one is just......slowing down.......for a bit.

Dark angel,
the sword was actually a bit easier than I thought it was going to be. basically I just started with the base color I wanted (the darkest at the bottom of the sword; scab if I remember right), and painted the whole sword that color. Then I just drybrushed my first highlight layer of blazing orange a little more than halfway down the blade, and then drybrushed a 50/50 mix of skull white and blazing orange on the tip and edges. voila! You dont have to use a red to orange fade, any colors will do. I've seen some awesome blue shades used that start as kind of a purple-ish hue at the bottom and fade to almost ice blue at the top. it looks awesome! I hope that answers your ?'s! and remember if it doesnt come out quite right the first time, there arent any rules that say you cant slap on some chaos black (or whatever your undercoat is) and do it again. You'll only get better the more you do it!
