Deathwing Assault |

Alright so I need some help here. After gaming with my army for a bit and in a tournament for fun ive been getting conflicting reports about the Deathwing
Assault rule. The two things im told are either that it just happans automatically on the first turn as per the rules and then you roll reserves as normal on
2nd and later turns and other times I am told that you have to roll for the deathwing on turn 1 as if it were turn two. Im fine eitherway but id like to know
which one is the way its supposed to go down. After reading the rule for it several times and the deep strike rules as well as the white dwarf issue featurign
the unforgiven with that silly battle report against tau I am not entirely sure. The article essentially showing off the dark angels says they automatically
deepstrike in which to me sounds like no rolling for the deepstrike but following the other rules for deepstrike (scatter deployment tele homers etc etc). Any
insight because its just not clicking with my brain.

It works like this:
On turn one you select up to half of total DW squads in reserve (plus attached characters) to deepstrike automatically, roll for scatter. On turn two you roll to see if remaing squad in reserve arrive. So as example: you have 5 deathwing squads, belial and a librarian on reserve. On turn one you can elect to deepstrike three of them, two have a character attached. On turn two you roll to see if any of the remaining two squads in reserve ,arrive. Rinse and repeat on following turns until all squads have deployed. |

Alright so on first turn you dont roll anything to see if half deepstrike they just do? Just want to confirm that is how it works so I know for when I play
again.

That's right on first turn , no rolls are made, half of them just DS at leisure.

Which basicaly means that if you were to take a single squad of DW terminators led by Belial in your DABF army, the DW squad will arrive on turn 1 ( half the
total squads rounding up) giving you the advantage of never having that expensive squad wasting their time in reserve......

Right I figured that was the whole point of having that special rule which is why i thought it odd that people were saying otherwise. Thanks. Next time i go to
the local gaming place ill bring my white dwarf where it also says automatically as extra support in defending out special rule.
